2-1-1 is the phone number for free access to health and human services information and referral throughout Summit County, Northeast Ohio and twenty-five percent of the nation. Calls are handled through Info Line, a community-based not-for-profit organization serving residents throughout Northeast Ohio since 1975. Info Line is an affiliate agency of the United Way of Summit County, and is supported in part through your United Way donations.  All calls are confidential.

Information provided through 2-1-1 includes such services as:

  • Basic human needs resources (food banks, clothing, shelters, rent assistance, utility assistance);

  • Physical and mental health resources (health insurance programs, Medicaid, Medicare, maternal health, children’s health insurance programs, medical information lines, crisis intervention, support groups, counseling, drug and alcohol intervention and rehabilitation);

  • Work support (financial assistance, job training, transportation assistance, education programs);

  • Supports for older Americans and persons with disabilities (adult day care, congregate meals, Meals on Wheels, respite care, home health care, transportation, homemaker services);

  • Children, youth and family supports (childcare, after school programs, Head Start, family resource centers, summer camps and recreation programs, mentoring, tutoring, protective services).

For Police, Fire or Medical Emergencies continue to call 9-1-1.

Info Line’s current toll-free numbers (330) 376-6660 and (330) 650-2603 (Northern Summit County only) also will service calls from cell phones as well as from phones in companies and institutions that have programmed their phone systems to block “N-1-1’ three-digit dialing, other than 9-1-1. 

In addition to health and human services information and referral, Info Line also offers:  Child Care Resource and Referral – to help families locate affordable child care services; Life Line – a 24-hour home emergency response monitoring service for frail elderly and those individuals with disabilities living alone; and MedAssist – a program to help qualified low-income individuals secure free or low-cost medications.
